Sports Performance

Ethos Fitness Systems offers a wide variety of training programs for athletes of all fitness and skill levels.  We believe every athlete is different and must be trained in accordance to their personal needs as well as the individual needs of their sport. Therefore, programming is built with the individual or teams needs and goals in mind.  Prior to the start of their training each athlete undergoes a comprehensive functional movement screen and overall athletic assessment in order to accurately determine any muscular imbalances or movement limitations that may increase risk of injury or long term technique issues.  We believe that laying the foundation correctly will result in maximizing every athletes genetic potential.  These programs offer sports performance in Orlando, Oviedo, and the Central Florida area, with the closest sports performance facility to the University of Central Florida.

Functional Movement Screen

Each athlete begins their training process by completing a one-on-one comprehensive Functional Movement Screen and overall athletic evaluation. These evaluations are used to gain a better understanding of each athlete’s personal needs by assessing their overall body composition, range of motion, muscular imbalances, functional strength, and of course all 10 general physical skills:

  • Cardiovascular/Respiratory Endurance: The ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen.
  • Stamina: The ability of body systems to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy.
  • Strength: The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
  • Flexibility: The ability to maximize range of motion at any given joint.
  • Power: The ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
  • Speed: The ability to minimize the time cycle of repeated movement.
  • Coordination: The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
  • Agility: The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.
  • Balance: The ability to control the placement of bodies center of gravity in relation to its support base.
  • Accuracy: The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.

Just as each athlete should be trained differently, we also know that each athlete will have unique goals and aspire to accomplish a variety of different things within their given sport. We will sit down with each athlete and clearly map out specific training goals, bench marks, and an overall game plan to help create and maintain focus throughout their training process.

Player Evaluation

Evaluations will help in clarifying any previous performance training knowledge from other training facilities or coaches as well as an in depth injury report. Trainers expectations and a clear understanding of the overall program will help each athlete start on the right foot and set them up early to achieve each and every goal set.  These assessments and evaluations are also a means of tracking an athlete’s progress throughout their training process.
